How is MDF made?

Wood constitute a major part of the MDF structure.

After collecting the tree trunks, they are transferred to the factory, and after importing the tree trunks to the factory, the production process begins.

MDF is a sheet of wood, but how is it made?

It should be noted that the names of the machinery used in production are not mentioned here in a specialized manner.

The complete trunks of the trees are initially divided into smaller sizes.

In fact, the MDF production plant has several industrial machinery, each of which has separate tasks to handle.

In the next step, the trees are grated and made small enough. But this amount of chopping is not enough. This time they go to the shredder to turn into small wooden chips.

Another important step is to add glue to these wooden chips; in this step, we make a fundamental change to the structure of the wood, so that it comes out of the scattered state and becomes totally cohesive and stable in shape.

We would like to draw your attention to a small point: the development of science is supposed to make human beings more comfortable, now why did we make this statement?

You can change the nature of the wood by adding different types of glue to the wood.

This means that you can have waterproof, fire resistant, etc. sheets in the end of the work.

After adding the glue, wax or resin should be added as well, which is done immediately after gluing.

The moisture of this compound must be absorbed completely. Moisture in MDF raw materials is not a good thing at all.

After getting out of the dryer, it is time for the compound to get formed.

At this stage, as we have a pasty compound, it can be easily shaped.

The final shape we are looking for is a sheet with medium density.

So, we put this pasty compound into the hot press machine.

This device can be controlled by a connected computer. The thickness, length and width of the sheet can all be controlled with just a few simple clicks.

The temperature applied to the hot press is very high, so we have to lower the temperature of the sheets.

Since the time factor is of utmost importance in the production process, we are not going to wait for the sheets to cool down one after another.

This time, the sheets are cold pressed in order to balance their temperature.

Before wrapping the sheets, they should be re-checked for their sizes.

Another important issue regarding the production of MDF is the weight of the sheets.

This is so important that it happens twice during the production process.
